A Beat Happening: Summer Frequencies Showcase — 9 Year Anniversary

Rooted in accessibility, collaboration, and community care, @abeathappening has spent nearly a decade building a free platform for emerging and established artists to connect, share, and grow. This showcase brings multiple Portland hip hop, dance, and electronic music collectives + event curators + taste makers together on one lineup, highlighting the depth and energy of the city’s independent music scene.

Hosted at @atelier_yaffe, a Black-owned gallery, cafe and event space owned and operated by @ivan_fochive and the home of ABH since 2023, we’re continuing our mission by creating an inclusive celebration that centers BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ artists and communities, while staying open to all and fully accessible. Alongside performances, tap in with community partners and local creatives for resources, networking, and connections beyond the music!

Dill La Soul

No Requests: Dill La Soul (February Edition) is a special Portland hip-hop experience honoring the timeless legacy of J Dilla and Dave Jolicoeur of De La Soul.

Hosted at McMenamins White Eagle Saloon, this February edition of No Requests brings together DJs, heads, and culture lovers for a night rooted in the sound, soul, and spirit of the Native Tongues era. Aptly titled Dill La Soul, the event celebrates J Dilla’s groundbreaking production and Dave’s unmistakable voice, style, and contribution to one of hip-hop’s most influential groups.

Curated by DJ Klyph and DJ Ambush, No Requests is a monthly Golden Era hip-hop party built on community, deep cuts, and real head-nod vibes — always focused on the music and the culture.

If you’re looking for a true Portland hip-hop event that honors legacy while bringing the community together, Dill La Soul is where February begins.
2 DJs. 4 decks. No requests.
