Good In The Hood
Bringing the Music to Good in the Hood
There’s something special about playing music in spaces that are built around community.
Today I’ll be joining Vursatyl for a live performance at Good in the Hood, one of Portland’s longest-running celebrations of Black culture, music, food, and community. It’s always an honor to share a stage with Vurs, whose artistry and dedication to the city’s Hip Hop legacy continue to inspire.
As the DJ, my role is more than pressing play. It’s about helping create the energy that connects the artists with the audience, honoring the records that came before us while making room for new memories to be made. Festivals like Good in the Hood remind me why I do this work in the first place.
Whether it’s through Welcome to the Neighborhood, Klyph Notes, No Requests, Roses & Bridges Radio, Vinyl Store Tour, or performances like today’s, the mission remains the same: use music to bring people together and shine a light on the incredible creative community we have here in Portland.
If you’re out at Good in the Hood today, come say hello. I hope to see you there.
